Von der Leyen’s political guidelines for the next five years propose to simplify REACH and provide clarity on PFAS
Ursula von der Leyen ‘s political guidelines for 2024-2029, published ahead of the vote in Parliament on 18 July that elected her president of the European Commission for a second term, present her priorities for the next five years, where a shift towards competitiveness and clean industry is visible. The guidelines plan for the publication of a new ‘Clean Industrial Deal’ in the first hundred days of the mandate. The guidelines also propose ‘a new chemicals industry package, aiming to simplify REACH and provide clarity on ‘forever chemicals’ or PFAS’, which may refer to the ongoing PFAS restriction, although no further details are provided in the guidelines.
