ZeroPM Regulatory Watch Update October 2022

Important update for the Regulatory Watch this month, the Commission Work Programme 2023 was published today. It confirms that the REACH revision is delayed until the end of 2023 (but at least not to the next Commission, although elections are in May 2024, which will likely delay the legislative procedure and adoption of the revision). The work programme is available here: https://ec.europa.eu/info/publications/2023-commission-work-programme-key-documents_en The list of initiatives is in the Annexes.

According to reports of leaked documents, the REACH revision has been toned down since the draft of the REACH document circulated previously. For instance the draft revered to substitution of hazardous substances with “safer and more sustainable alternatives” to “promoting sustainable alternatives”.

Elsewhere, the “Have your say” on the delegated draft amendement to the CLP has recently closed, in which many comments were reported on the PMT/vPvM criteria.

Deadline to participate in the public consultation on the upcoming Soil Health Law: 24 October 2022

Launch of the public consultation on the revision of the Food Contact Material legislation – deadline to respond on 11 January 2023.

Recently expired deadlines:

  • Deadline to comment on the SVHC dossier for melamine: 17 October 2022
  • Deadline to comment on the SVHC dossier for Perfluoroheptanoic acid and its salts: 17 October 2022
